The county council is proposing to charge for on street parking in the town centre after 6pm and on Sundays when it is currently free.

Parking charges in Harrogate are already some of the most expensive in the country, removing the ability to park at all for free in the town centre will reduce the number of visitors to the town centre and local businesses.

There will also be a large impact on those attending churches in the town centre, particularly the elderly.
