Fantastic - we have now more than 4,000 supporters.

Locals call it the Sunrise Cycleway and it even has its own twitter handle @SunriseCycleway - Please connect, follow it, and share your pictures and happiness!

Also, the cones are (almost) gone as the Council have installed orcas, wands and other protective measures along the entire cycleway over the last few weeks.
It could be even better but only with appropriate engineering using permanent materials so we need to keep the momentum and push for the cycleway to stay!

This is a trial and North Tyneside Council hasn’t made a decision yet about its future.

What else can you do to support the cycleway and make sure it becomes a permanent feature of the beautiful North East coastline?

1 -  Complete the survey by clicking on the coastal cycleway on the map- https://www.sustrans.org.uk/space-to-move
2 - If you are a resident in North Tyneside, write to you local councillors and tell them you want the cycleway to be made permanent and why. (And if you’re not sure about who your councillors are, go to https://www.writetothem.com and enter your postcode)

3 - If you travel to work, study or socialise in North Tyneside, and use the coastal route, write to the councillors in the following wards
- Whitley Bay
- Cullercoats
- Tynemouth

You can find out who the ward councillors are from the North Tyneside Council website:https://democracy.northtyneside.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?FN=WARD&VW=LIST&PIC=0

Please continue to spread the word amongst your family, friends and neighbours, because if we don’t fight to keep it we will loose it, and the traffic will be back and our bikes will return to either the pavement, or their shed.

Thank you
