The last 3 months has seen a sharp rise in vehicles parked dangerously on Yatton High street, Most notably outside the former Prince of Orange pub. This parking is extremely inconsiderate and leads to significant congestion within Yatton. This congestion is creating more pollution and above all, it is making the roads of Yatton considerably more dangerous.

Just this week there was a serious road traffic collision involving vehicles parked dangerously on the high street and it's only a matter of time before somebody is killed or seriously injured.

This congestion is also leading to the emergency services, notably the fire service and the ambulance service being slowed significantly leading to lives being put at risk, this is only exacerbated on bin days.

The houses located on the high street were sold or rented without parking spaces and as a result would have been cheaper than properties with parking.

There have been suggestions that these cars 'slow' traffic and make it safer. This is simply not the case and if there is an issue about speed then an approved risk assessed traffic calming solution needs to be found in line with national guidance.

We the undersigned believe that Yatton high street should become a 'clearway' with double yellow lines to prevent dangerous parking and any more lives being put at risk. We also believe that these measures should extend part way up Rock Road to prevent Bin lorry and emergency service access being blocked by vehicles 'relocating' from the high street.
