The Issue

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE SURE THAT THE 112 BOARD OF EDUCATION DOES NOT CLOSE SCHOOLS PREMATURELY.

In a split decision shortly before the failed March Referendum vote, Budget Deficit Reduction 3 (BDR3) was passed by the School Board.  This was a controversial move, which would close four schools (Elm Place, Lincoln, Ravinia, and Green Bay),  in May, 2017.

There is a new Reconfiguration 2.0 committee now being formed to prepare a better plan for District 112.   BDR3 SHOULD BE PUT ON HOLD WHILE THE COMMITTEE DOES THEIR WORK.  School closures should only happen if no viable plan can be presented and passed, NOT simply because the single middle-school campus plan--that the community never supported--was already rejected.

The Board has asked for the trust and partnership of the community to develop a better plan, and that is not possible with the threat of school closures hanging over the process.

Several Board Members already agree that BDR3 should be delayed.  We need to convince the others to do the right thing.  Please sign the petition and share with your friends and neighbors.
