North Salt Lake City skate park

The Issue

North Salt Lake is a vibrant community filled with young skateboarders, BMX riders. skaters eager for a place to practice their skills and enjoy recreational activities. Yet, despite this growing interest, our town lacks a proper skate park to serve the needs of these active citizens. We believe it's time to change this and build a new North Salt Lake skate park.

A well-designed skate park not only provides a safe environment for riders of all ages to practice their skills but also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. Skateboarding and similar activities are excellent outlets for youth to express themselves, relieve stress, and engage in a positive community atmosphere. By providing a designated area for these activities, we can reduce unsafe practices in public spaces and increase the overall safety of our town.

According to the Skatepark Association of the United States, the presence of a community skate park can significantly decrease skateboarding-related injuries in areas where skaters currently use streets and sidewalks not designed for such activities. Furthermore, skate parks have proven to increase community engagement and local business traffic, creating a beneficial ripple effect throughout towns that support them.

We propose the city council allocate funding for the planning and construction of a state-of-the-art skate park in North Salt Lake. The proposed park should include facilities that cater to skateboarders, BMX riders, and inline skaters, with features like ramps, rails, and bowls to accommodate various skill levels.

By signing this petition, you're supporting a safer and more inclusive community, advocating for the health and well-being of our youth, and helping to create a recreational space that will serve current and future generations. Let's work together to bring a new skate park to North Salt Lake. Please sign and share this petition to urge our town leaders to take action.
