Save Historic Penrose Allotments

The Issue

Penrose Allotments are under threat due to proposed planning for Housing. Many local residents and business strongly disagree with the current proposal. The Penrose Almshouses Allotments are almost 400 years old and based within Trinity Steet Barnstaple. They have provided self sufficiency and joy for residents in continuous abundance since.
The original footprint of the allotments still exists and is an historical and important feature showing the “gardens of the poor” just like a 17th parterre garden is the history of the wealthy.
Building development on this site will completely desecrate the landthat has  been protected for 400 years. Housing will bring congestion and ugliness to an already densely populated area of Barnstaple.
Please sign this petition to prevent building development to destroy this ancient and beautiful site!
