Right now, HB-417 sits in the Senate Rules and Operations Committee, Chaired by Senator Bill Rabon, (Bill.Rabon@ncleg.gov) even though it was passed UNANIMOUSLY by the house. Please ask Senators to get this Bill off the Rules Committee desk and pass it successfully; just as the House did such a seamless job on. 

What is HB-417?  It is the Sgt. Mickey Hutchens Act, which allows Law Enforcement and Detention Officers with Advanced Certification to purchase up to 4 years of their OWN time towards retirement.   This costs taxpayers nothing.  

NC is the ONLY surrounding state that doesn't have either 25 year retirement for their officers or some type of option for them.  This bill will at least give them an option.  The average life expectancy of a law enforcement officer is 57. 57!!

It would be great if NC could really show their support of our men and women who wear a badge every day and make a change for their futures.  After they've given so many missed nights, weekends, kids birthdays, holidays, family events, its truly the least NC can do for them to get a little time back. This time you can help BACK THE BLUE.
