Back in November of 2012 Inside Edition did a story on a Magician that worked kid birthday parties for the low cost of $325  What parents did not know was that this man was actually using a fake name and was a convicted sex offender, who served 12 years for sexually molesting a boy. 

In April of 2013 The New York Times reports the following

"A Cookie Monster impostor was accused over the weekend of shoving a 2-year-old in Times Square.

"He was using words that were really bad," said Parmita Kurada of Stamford, Conn., who told police she got into a dispute this week with a man in a Cookie Monster costume who demanded $2 for posing with her 2-year-old son, Samay.

The Associated Press reported that when Kurada told the Cookie Monster that her husband needed to get cash, the shaggy blue creature pushed her son and started calling him obscene names. 

"It was very scary for us, and I was crying. I didn't want to provoke him, so I said, 'We'll give you the money, but stop yelling!'" she said.

Osvaldo Quiroz-Lopez, 33, was charged with assault, child endangerment and aggressive begging."

Imagine a person shoving and cussing out your 2 year old child! SCARY!

Because of this incident and many others NY Lawmakers have decided now to Regulate these performers and characters.

 

In February of 2009 The Los Angeles times reports the following

"A series of assaults near Grauman's Chinese Theatre has led to a plea for a city licensing system that costumed characters who pose for visitors' photos hope will protect them."

 

In August of 2011, in Davenport Iowa, 25-year-old James Rogers a Registered Sex Offender was arrested just by chance while wearing a Cookie Monster Costume and working as a paid entertainer for the company Q.C. Characters.  It was not until he took off his costume head that former parole officer spotted him and reported it!  Imagine, A REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER AT A FAIR WITH KIDS!

 

Again, entertainers and performers interacting with others and no one has a clue who they are or what their backgrounds consist of.

 

Did you ever hear of Pogo The Clown?  He performed for many children, local parties, and community events.  He also murdered several children.  His real name?   John Wayne Gacy!  One of the well known most infamous American serial Killer and Rapist!

 

Now that puts un in North Carolina.  Where events like the Carolina Rennassaince Festival, Carowinds and Merfest happen.  They are centered around children's activities and appeal to families and children as a safe and family fun event.  

What you don't see is that several of these entertainers are known sex offenders, child predators, porn stars and just plain perverts with past convictions. 

When this was brought up to the event managers it was dismissed and ignored.  When this was brought up to one of the world's best known child entertainers Kathy Gfeller aka  "Twig the Fairy" about a performer who was a convicted criminal and known porn star, This was her response.

" I feel that her personal life is none of my business"  Kathy Gfeller

Well Kathy you may feel like this is none of YOUR business but I am pretty sure parents all over the country disagree with you adamantly.
