THE I-77 BUSINESS PLAN

The I-77 Express Lanes represent an expensive transportation infrastructure project providing little, if any, congestion relief to the Lake Norman region. The I-77 Express Lanes are a monumental waste of money and leave us with either bad business choices or no choices at all. They represent a contract that is not workable for business growth and do not provide adequate intercity or trucking transportation. I-77 Mobility Partners—the shell entity created to build and manage the I-77 Express Lanes project—does not represent the best interests of the Citizens of North Carolina.

The I-77 Business Plan supports:

--Fiscally responsible transportation solutions that support the needs of businesses and citizens

--Maintaining a competitive advantage, through the construction of business-friendly transportation infrastructure

--Transportation solutions that leave our options open for continued economic growth. The existing alternative leaves us with none.

We support public private partnerships that represent the best interests of the Citizens of North Carolina. This plan is not against tolls; it is against infrastructure projects that waste money and do not fit our business needs for future growth.

I-77 Business Plan Action Items:

--Defund the I-77 Express Lanes, exits 20-36.

--Inclusion of general purpose lanes for I-77 for the Lake Norman region in the Governor’s Connect NC bond package. This package represents a long term infrastructure investment for the betterment of all North Carolina businesses and citizens.

We, the undersigned, do hereby wholeheartedly support the I-77 Business Plan. We believe this plan is critical for continued economic growth in the Lake Norman region and also crucial to North Carolina’s long term competitive advantage. We are sending a message to local, state and Federal Governments to pass resolutions to support the I-77 Business Plan and to take action immediately.
