I live in North Carolina and we're experiencing record low temperatures, as I know many of you are. There is a dog in my neighborhood that my family is particularly worried about. Her name is Honey and she is a 14 year old black lab. She stays outside on a chain by her doghouse. Many people have called the Humane Society and/or Animal Control but they can't do anything because they say doghouse is "properly" insulated according to current guidelines and all her medical records are up to date. They've encouraged her to bring Honey inside but she refuses due to not wanting her hair or messes inside and will not give Honey to a home that can take her in because "they have history". I want to bring Honey's case and the pure suffering of animals in North Carolina to our Governor's and our Law Maker's attention, not just to protect Honey but for every single pet in this state. Our goal is to get a law passed stating that no pet can be left outside when the temperature is below freezing for more than thirty minutes.
