Because of the COVID-19 pandemic North Carolina’s students are currently suffering in many different ways. Child abuse, depression, anxiety, suicide, are among their problems.

By starting fall sports, especially football, due to the number of students that are associated with the sport, immediately many of these problems will be solved. COVID-19 is not as deadly as the mental health issues our students are facing.

Students who live next to state borders who are allowing play are transferring, leaving coaches, students, and schools disappointed. With this issue at hand, North Carolina schools will not be allowed the funding for those students who transfer.

Furthermore, concerning the fans that want to attend would much rather the student athletes play than not. Online viewing can be set up where friends and family can watch the games played. Each high school can have a pay per view of the teams playing to offset the lack of fans that may be allowed in the stands. We must keep in mind this petition is for the student athletes in North Carolina to be allowed to compete in their sport of choice immediately.
