In North Carolina medical marijuana CBD oil is currently legal only for children who have intractable epilepsy. I am Susan Fonda, I am 54 years old and have worked my whole life since the age of 16 and raised two boys successfully on my own. I worked 50-60 hours a week, was an avid rock climber, hiker, camper, traveler and any sport I did it. Life never slowed me down.
It started in 2013, a numb spot the size of a pea on my foot. I dismissed it as maybe just getting old but it started spreading and then the muscle weakness started. I went to see a neurologist who performed an EMG and said I had peripheral neuropathy. As the months went by my symptoms were getting worse and she did not believe me. I sought a second opinion from another neurologist by then the pain started in my joints. She referred me to a rheumatologist. I had a positive test which confirmed I had an auto immune disease which was wiping out my central nervous system and my involuntary nervous system which was diagnosed as dysautonomia and rheumatoid arthritis as well undifferentiated connective tissue disease.
The symptoms kept coming and my walking got worse I started having seizures and the neuropathy started spreading to my whole body which was determined to be short fiber neuropathy. I am told there is no cure for what I have that they may only be able to slow the progression down which they have not been able to do. I am in pain everyday of my life.
I want the laws in North Carolina changed so that people with chronic pain such as mine have the chance to take CBD oil and marijuana and have a chance to live their life with less pain. I do not take any pain medications as the laws here for that as well are harsh and most days I lay down and cannot even move .
Please help change this law in North Carolina to help those in pain have access to CBD oil and marijuana so that we also can have relief. There have been numerous studies to show that CBD oil and marijuana acts best for the nervous system.
Marijuana in its natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. By any measure of rational analysis marijuana can be safely used within a supervised routine of medical care. ... It would be unreasonable, arbitrary and capricious for DEA to continue to stand between those sufferers and the benefits of this substance in light of the evidence in this record."
