Help save local businesses & change cycle lane plans

Help save local businesses & change cycle lane plans
The Issue
Glasgow Street is one of the busiest roads in Ardrossan (North Ayrshire) and new plans have emerged to change the road layout by introducing cycle lanes. There has been a lack of information to businesses, customers and local residents regarding these changes.
-Ambulances and other emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through traffic in an emergency and Glasgow Street is a direct access to the ferry terminal and the marina.
-Large tail backs and additional congestion will occur on bin collection days.
- Delivery drivers, essential visitors (i.e care workers) will be unable to stop safely due to narrowing of the road and lack of parking.
- pedestrians will have to cross onto a cycle lane to access pavement.
- Shared paths are not safe for wheelchair users, the blind or people hard of hearing.
- No consideration has been given to the local community.
- Removal of any parking will be detrimental to businesses.
While we appreciate that North Ayrshire Council is trying to support and encourage cycling, there seems to be no benefit from these plans.
There have been a number of public complaints and issues reported directly to the Council and other parties involved which have not been recognised or rectified.
Please sign the petition and help our voices be heard.
