Blakeney mobile phone signal NOW!

The Issue

Blakeney and the surrounding area of North Norfolk contribute massively to the economy of east Anglia as a well recognised tourist destination. Blakeney is blighted by a lack of mobile phone signal, which forces visitors to leave our village to use their mobile phones.... This has a suffocating effect on our economy, inconveniences the people living in the area but most importantly is a safety risk as it is not possible to dial 999 in emergency situations.

A delay in contacting 999 in an emergency could be the difference between life and death for thousands of people living in Blakeney, Cley, Morston, Langham, Wiveton, Salthouse, Glandford, Kelling, Saxlingham and Letheringsett without mobile phone signal.

Despite having negligible visual impact, a proposition for a telecommunications tower at Friary Farm, Blakeney was recently dropped. This petition calls on Norman Lamb to seek funding from central government and build a phone mast in the Blakeney area --- whatever it takes. It is time to step forward from the dark ages and live in the modern world where mobile phones fill an vital role. We are a thriving area lacking in this most basic of infrastructure, this must change.
