Modify NPS’ virtual learning schedule

Modify NPS’ virtual learning schedule
The Issue
Many other districts in the area have already considered the students needs above all and created reduce scheduling. Some to include four day work week and reduced hours such as half days. Most children in NPS still have online homework responsibilities in addition to a full 5 day school week, Which could easily equal 70+ hours of screen time a week. Studies have shown that excessive blue screen time can be detrimental. While we appreciate face-to-face instruction, we want to take the students needs into consideration as well as the teachers who are under incredible pressure to manage five days a week. We would like to see a restructuring of the hours. Many parents participated in online surveys prior to the school year’s start that laid out other options but left very little input for the structuring of online learning. With virtual academy being the choice for many families that leaves a lot of children online until at least January, we need a change. This is in no way a complaint about the teachers, we appreciate their support as well as the districts, we just feel they could be better options for all.
