Norfolk County Urgently Needs Animal Control and Spay and Neuter policies.

Norfolk County Urgently Needs Animal Control and Spay and Neuter policies.
The Issue
Norfolk County, Ontario desperately needs Animal Control; along with education on the importance of spaying and neutering pet dogs and cats. Due to the pandemic, many people chose to get pets. Several did not spay or neuter their pets. Inflation has made life a lot more expensive, resulting in many abandoned/unwanted dogs and cats. There are several large cat colonies in Norfolk County and rescue shelters such as Purrfect Companions of Norfolk County are now being forced to take on the responsibilty of Animal Control. It is emotionally and financially unsustainable and if this is not addressed by the local town council, it will create an even larger epidemic of unwanted pets when shelters such as PCON are broken to the point of shutting their doors for good.
Shelters are at full capacity and their intake doors are closed with long waiting lists of people needing to surrender their pets due to old age, illness, etc.
It's time to make the town council of Norfolk County aware of the extent of this crisis in order to take pressure off rescue shelters. Please sign the petition to end the overwhelming suffering of the exploding abandoned pet population in Norfolk County.
