It is nice to see these properties finally being protected.  Some of these properties have been sitting waiting for over 20 years now.  Thank you to all you folks who have been working at this for many years now!  It must be frustrating waiting so long for action.

Its clear to see that we can speed this process up when we have the will.  When the province had its 12% protected areas target written into law (the ESGSPA legislation) it met that target and met it quickly and on time. Leading up to the target they designated 54 sites in one batch, and 65 sites in another batch! 

These new designations bring us very close to the Provinces goal at just under 13% with no deadline in place to meet their 13% goal.  What will we do to meet our Federal Governments new targets of 25% land and water by 2025 and 30% by 2030? 

We are happy to offer more bio diversity to the list in the St. Mary's River Valley!
