Dear  Leaders, Professionals, Charities,  Disability advocates and campaigners.

On 30th September 2025, the world stood still not in silence, but in powerful recognition. National Nonspeaking Awareness Day was celebrated globally, and for many of us, it was a day that was more than symbolic. It was transformative filled with beauty, unity, and above all, hope. It was the most beautiful day and it brought a truly united front for one voice to be heard regardless of how it is communicated those who are Nonspeaking.

Across continents, people came together to honour the voices so often unheard not absent, just expressed differently. The day was captivating, empowering, and a testament to what is possible when compassion meets action. We saw Nonspeakers celebrated, their contributions uplifted, their stories embraced. The world, in many corners, listened. And we were moved to tears because for once, our loved ones weren’t invisible.

But back home… here, in Northern Ireland and, the silence was evident.

But to the many others especially those within government, health, education, public service, disability advocacy your silence has not gone unnoticed. It echoes through the very halls where decisions are made, through the empty chairs where inclusion should live, and through the hearts of families who have begged, year after year, to be seen and heard.

We have tried. For five long years, we have persisted. In our first year, we approached government no success. In our second, we reached out to local disability organisations, charities, and businesses met with politeness, but not power. On the third, we turned to the globe. And the world responded.

It shouldn't take global advocacy through awareness for you to recognise your own people.

You have known the barriers to communication rights, education, healthcare, dignity. You have been told, time and again, about the lack of access to assistive technology, the lack of inclusive policies, the lack of acknowledgment for those who live without spoken words.

And yet, you chose silence.

A silence more painful than we can describe. Because while our loved ones live in silence not of their choosing, yours is deliberate.

Let us be clear

You have failed in inclusion.
You have failed in compassion.
You have failed to pull up more chairs when we invited you to our table, again and again.

We never wanted publicity. We never did media coverage and never will. We didn’t need headlines. We never have it was about all of us not just one it has aways been kind and respectful that won't ever change.

We needed you.

And now, we are tired. Tired of knocking on doors that will not open. Tired of pleading for visibility. Tired of being told to wait.

We are closing this chapter, not in defeat but in grief. Grief for the many nonspeaking children, young adults, and elders whose lives remain sidelined. Grief that we must stop, not because we lack passion, but because we have given everything we could. And still, you did not listen.

This is not just about awareness.
It is about human rights.
It is about communication rights.
It is about dignity, respect, and the very essence of what it means to be included in society.

We sincerely hope that someone else will pick up this fight. Someone who still has the strength, the time, and the will to push forward. Because the fight for nonspeaking lives is not over. It can’t be.

But for now, we end. Not because our love has waned but because the weight of your indifference has become too heavy.

Northern Ireland you have so much to learn. So much growth to make.
But growth starts with listening.
And still, you refuse.

We wish you well.
And we hope truly, deeply that someday, your silence will break.
Not because of pressure that was never our intention. But because you finally see the people you’ve long ignored.

With heavy hearts,
In honour of every nonspeaking soul we've loved,
And on behalf of a global movement built on love, not recognition we wish you well.
