Many share their experiences of medical & dental appointments with us. About the real lack of understanding and immense worry for their loved ones who are Nonspeaking/Nonverbal is unbelievably overwhelming.

Basically if an appropriate support plan is not put in place to support the needs of your loved one and you.

The experience can impact you all overall and the healthcare professionals. In a very negative way.

This can be extremely traumatic and a very worrying situation for those we love. 

We do believe respect and dignity is a must for our Nonspeaking community throughout all medical appointments and dental appointments or planned procedures within Healthcare.

Seeing the person for who they are, trying to understand their way of communication and more importantly treating them with care.

We know this is not the same for every individual some have very positive experiences within certain Health Trusts.

Unfortunately for most that we connect with through our campaign that is not the case.

Many need to know knowledge and communication is powerful thing. 

Our Petition wants to help change this and raise awareness to not only families but healthcare professionals and health trusts.

Listen, Learning and Postive Communication can go along way in helping improve so many situations. In avoiding the normal route many may go with when a traumatic experience happens.

This not only impacts the NonSpeaking person but also the medical & healthcare professionals involved who may lack understanding within these situations.

It doesn’t cost additional money, it doesn’t have to be major changes it just takes time to listen with our views we can help change mindsets forward thinking and positive approaches can achieve so much.

We want this to change but we need signatures for those in power and many others to listen.
