To the Austin ISD Board of Trustees,

We, the undersigned teachers, staff, parents, students, and former employees of Akins High School, respectfully request the nonrenewal of Associate Principal Juan Manuel Garcia's contract for the following reasons:

1. Bullying and Harassment: For years, Dr. Garcia has engaged in a pattern of bullying and harassment towards teachers and staff, creating a hostile work environment. His behavior has been described as capricious, vindictive, and petty, causing significant emotional distress and lowering morale.
2. High Turnover Rate: Dr. Garcia's actions have directly contributed to an alarming turnover rate among teachers and staff at Akins. This constant loss of both new and experienced educators disrupts the learning environment, negatively impacting student achievement and the overall effectiveness of the school.
3. Low Morale: Dr. Garcia's leadership style has created a climate of fear and intimidation, leading to low morale among teachers, staff, and even other administrators. This has resulted in decreased productivity, reduced collaboration, and a decline in the quality of education provided to students.
4. Complaints and Grievances: Dr. Garcia is perennially the subject of numerous complaints and grievances on campus, further demonstrating the widespread dissatisfaction with his leadership and the negative impact he has had on the school community.
5. Incompetence: From emails, to announcements, to the master schedule, mistakes, oversights, and miscommunication are the hallmarks of Dr. Garcia's work. The students and staff at Akins deserve better.

We believe that the nonrenewal of Dr. Garcia's contract is in the best interest of Akins High School. By removing this toxic presence, the school can begin to heal, rebuild trust, and create a positive and supportive environment for all students, teachers, and staff.

We urge the Board of Trustees to take swift action on this matter and prioritize the well-being of the Akins High School community.
