Thank you for your patience and support. Our next awareness campaign for the #exonerateMichaelChristopherBlocker campaign is starting up now.
Every time we get a green light, then Augusta, Georgia politics pushes us back to a red light. It is frustrating.
Here are my concerns: Almost two years ago (2021) the 182 pages of trial transcripts confirming that no one was injured in Michael's case were released. Judge Amanda Heath opened the case for appeal, but Michael never made it to court. I had finally taken on a new role with the USPS. Richmond County, Georgia was splitting with Danny Craig becoming Chief Judge and James Blanchard Jr. Forming Columbia County Judicial Circuit where he was to be Chief Judge. Even Michael's former private attorney Willie Saunders secured a chief judge position. A lot of moving parts Sep 2021 thru December 2021. Michael's last motion was filed in January 2022. There has been no other case movement. Is there a time clock now ticking? Not sure of statutes of limitations.
Our campaign paid the law office of Tanya Jeffords in May 2023 to determine how to get Michael released. Since Michael remembered Ms. Jeffords from working on his 2008 trial, we figured it was only right for her to correct this injustice. After two months of conversation and attorney collaboration, Jeffords office is now trying to step back. Is there a conflict of interest? There is clearly some push back that her office is encountering. We are expecting Jeffords office to provide another reliable attorney referral by July 21, 2023 to complete Michael's exoneration process.
In the meantime, the prison food is not meeting nutritional needs. Hopefully, the warden will try out a plate from the chow hall and make some changes.
The prison costs the family money to maintain Michael so that he does not have to join a gang. Inflation has hit the prison across the board.
If Michael can get in court, then his case is simply a misdemeanor of possession of stolen goods ( costume jewelry and a collection of pennies) that he has now served 16 years for. The judicial circuit in Richmond County (Columbia County) seem to be determined to further deny him due process and deny him justice.
Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you for your continued support. We will post more information as we get more movement.
