So two Georgia prison inmates were captured alive in Tennessee this month. Unfortunately, two correctional officers were killed, but fortunately, NO one else from Georgia to Tennessee were killed. The prisoners were serving from twenty years to life without parole for "armed robbery" according to the news reports that I read. Georgia has excessive sentencing for "robbery." This excessive sentencing is putting their correctional officers in danger. The Georgia correctional System is promoting more violent behavior with their excessive sentencing. As you know, Michael is a low security risk at a maximum security prison for a crime that he did NOT commit. Essentially, he was a burglar who was railroaded with a life without parole sentence for a rape that they have NO DNA proof. The courts are still standing on the bait and switch "guilty plea" that he allegedly signed. Who would sign a guilty plea for life without parole? Yes, he was on medication. Yes, his private attorney withdrew from the case without contesting the DNA report prior to the grand jury phase. Yes, his public defender assisted in the hoodwink! Michael's education and religious upbringing is keeping him grounded. Georgia's parole board has complete control over commutating his sentence. I am hoping Governor Deal can positively influence this Advisory Board to release Michael sooner than later in light of the tragic loss of life this month surrounding inmates serving "excessive time which outweighed their crimes." On a separate note, I did not update on Father's Day nor Juneteenth. So enjoy TWO chapters (15 and 16) this week from our online Book Release of Wrong Answer. These two chapters feature "the burglary!" Enjoy!
