Keep Darren White Out of Office

Keep Darren White Out of Office
The Issue
We’re petitioning to keep Darren White of Maryville, Missouri out of the Nodaway County Sheriff’s position.
In January of 2012, Darren was the sheriff of Nodaway County when Catherine (Daisy) Coleman and Paige Parkhurst were sexually assaulted while at a gathering with what they thought were friends. White, as well as the prosecutor at the time, have been suspected of hiding crucial evidence of the assaults. This evidence included a cellphone that was said to contain a video of the assault. White victim blamed the 13 and 14 year old victims and stated in the documentary, Audrie and Daisy, that the girls were also to blame. In 2016, after the documentary came out, Darren White was voted out of the sheriffs position.
On August 4, 2020, Catherine (Daisy) Coleman took her own life. Darren White shortly after did an interview where he stated that he did not believe she was actually deceased, and that it was coincidental that it was so close to election time. Daisy had been dealing with not only the trauma from what had happened to her at 14 years old, but she had also lost her little brother in June of 2018. White said that her mother was a pathological liar and was lying about her daughters death to prevent him from being voted into office.
This man has harassed, victim blamed, lied, and potentially destroyed evidence in a CHILD’S sexual assault. Can you trust him to protect your children? Please do not let this man win.
