A time has come when we actively have to give up things and certain habits for the greater good of the environment and our fellow beings on this planet.

Seeing that the Nobel Prize Awards will take place on a monday in 2012, I humbly entreat the Nobel Committee to observe the "Meat Free Monday", as a gesture of commitment and responsibility, by choosing NOT to serve meat at the Nobel Prize Awards dinner.

It takes courage and dedication to renounce even one or two minor comforts in order to lead a more sustainable and responsible life. I now call upon your courage to challenge conventions and traditions this once, that you as role-models send a message of hope to the world:

By making informed and responsible choices in our daily habits as consumers, we may ensure a sustainable lifestyle that treads lightly on the earth, and that allows all beings on this planet to live plentiful and joyous lives.
