NO to Premier Inn St Davids - ACT NOW! We need your support to stop this.
It's happening. The planning process has started for a 63-bedroom Premier Inn Hotel as the 'gateway' to the historic city of
St Davids.
If you live here and love it for all that is special about St Davids and the Peninsula - ACT NOW!
If you work here and value local businesses and local jobs - ACT NOW!
If you love visiting St Davids and the National Park for all its unspoilt beauty and lack of commercialism - ACT NOW!
If you have time to do 1 thing - make your comments about these plans - DEADLINE 8th JANUARY
• Online at http://www.glasfrynroadplans.co.uk/feedback/
• Or write to James Anderson, Glasfryn Road Consultation, c/o Turley, 18 Windsor Place, Cardiff CF10 3BY
Points you could include:
The land is designated for housing – it should be used for housing. Taking an area of land that could have potentially 20 additional homes for local people.
Premier Inn are not ‘enabling’ the housing to be built – Pembrokeshire Housing Association have said they do not need Premier Inn in order to build the houses, they would go ahead anyway.
It will impact on the local economy, putting local family run businesses and jobs at risk – think about the knock-on effects, not just the accommodation providers at risk but all those businesses that they use e.g. the local food suppliers, the people they employ etc.
There isn’t a need for 63 additional hotel rooms in St Davids, there is already sufficient provision and capacity throughout the year.
It is totally out of keeping with the area.
It is not a fitting ‘gateway’ for this historic and special City.
It is totally at odds with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks aim to ‘conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park’ and their statutory duty to promote ‘the economic and social well-being of communities living within the National Park.’
As the National Park says, ‘we’re trying to make sure that what’s special in the Park now stays special in the future’ - Let them know what is special to you.
