The rate increase will, if implemented, result in You: 

·         The Residential customer paying between 15 and 64% more for electricity!

·         The Commercial customer paying between 10 and 51% more for electricity! 

And Industrial customers – especially the light manufacturers will also see a hefty increase!

There is an add-on effect: Landlords may increase rents; Businesses may increase prices

This is in addition to your added expenses - property tax being implemented; and steep increases in insurance rates. We, the people, cannot afford all these increases! Not on top of rising food & fuel/transportation prices and small or no wage increases in the last 10 years.

The MSJ says that there is a real alternative to a rate increase! What is that alternative? Reintegrating power generation into T&TEC, so T&TEC once again becomes an integrated entity from power generation to transmission and distribution

If Powegen and TGU - the power producers - were integrated into T&TEC there would be an immediate savings of $250 million a year. This is the amount that it costs T&TEC to pay for electricity which it doesn't need and can't sell to customers, under the take it or pay clause in the Power Purchase Agreements. 

If the power producers were integrated into T&TEC there would be no profit for these middle men power producers and therefore this too would save millions of dollars

The Cabinet is deliberating on the rate increase. NOW is the time to raise our voices and say NO to the rate increase! Let's tell them there's a better way for all of us, an alternative - reintegrate power generation into T&TEC!
