Why this petition matters

Started by Justin Miller

We need to stop the proposed change of the current speed limit of 6 knots SSH ( Saturday, Sunday, Holiday) to 6 knots AT (All Times). See proposed change below.

DNR Proposed Changes.

The proposed change to the current 6 knots SSH (Saturday, Sunday, Holiday) speed rule for Back Creek will not only increase the time it takes for residents to leave the creek; but more importantly, it will require our children to travel and boat in the main, usually very congested entrance of Bodkin Creek on their small vessels. Boats traveling at the proposed speed of 6 knots push larger amounts of wake, causing greater damage to personal property and piers, than wake created from kids tubing behind their smaller vessels or riding jet skis.

Proposing unnecessary restrictions on residents during the week is unneeded and unwanted as the current limit slows boats down on the weekends and holidays when boating traffic is at its peak. There is no data to support the argument of increased accidents or property damage to change the current configuration of the law. As a resident of Back Creek and the owner of Back Creek Marina, please help me fight this regulation change and STOP the 6 Knots All Times on Back Creek from going into effect.
