Planning application 1/22/9005 goes before the DC&R Committee on Tuesday 28th February at Kendal Town Hall. The meeting starts at 10am.

Our County Councillor and local residents will be speaking at the Committee meeting - voicing the objections of the local community and highlighting the unsuitability of this application given its location but we need your support!! There is a public gallery at the meeting - please come to Kendal on Tuesday and show your objection by being present in the public gallery - it would be fantastic if the gallery was full of objectors to this application and it would certainly make a strong impression on the people who have to make this decision.

Currently there are 92 objections to this application and only one in support and of course there are 260 signatories to this petition, (which has now officially been submitted to the planning office). Yet judging by the Executive Director of Planning's recently published report, it appears the Council are completely dismissing these objections and are set to push this through - but it is the Committee that makes the final decision, so a strong show of support on the day might be crucial to moving them in the right direction.

It has become clear to many of us during this campaign that the County Council have their own agenda and do not operate in the general interest of the local communities that they are supposed to serve. Ten more years of waste aggregate recycling and dumping in Esk Quarry will have serious long-term impacts on the local community and the environment and should not be allowed. Help us fight this disgraceful state of affairs - help us to stop this application getting approval.
