Greetings all-

Some news to share!  First, we've passed 600 signatures on this online petition!  Second, we have 1,000 signatures on paper petitions gathered at Paradigm in downtown Sheboygan.  Wowsa!  And we need more.

I've heard it said that petitions don't really matter, that they're not effective.  In my experience, that's just not true.  I'm always in mind of Margaret Mead's observation:  "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”  It was true some years ago and still true today.

News from the city of Sheboygan:  in the midst of lots of citizen input on the city's new zoning code, it is very clear that there are essentially no provisions in the old or proposed new zoning code that deal with AI data centers.  The field is wide open!

So, alder Alanza Grawien is drafting a resolution to put a one-year moratorium on any deals for a data center in the city.  This is a basic necessity!  Particularly if you live in the city, please send an email to Alanza (and all the alders) supporting at least a one-year moratorium, Alder addresses are at the bottom of the petition.  Even if you don't live in the city, email alders anyway.  Remember that, although land along our beautiful Lake Michigan is prime property, there are other spots in the county that are attractive as well.

Thanks all for your advocacy!  More updates coming!  And please share the petition with friends and family.
