All government ministers resigning (or being sacked), including the prime minister, are entitled to claim 25% of their salary in severance. This applies to irrespective of the length of office, reason for loss of office, or even if they are reappointed by the next prime minister! They are not being made unemployed - they are still MPs - and many are independently wealthy and/or will be very well compensated outside employment.

Given how much many of us are struggling with the cost of living, NO minister leaving office over the current crisis should accept this payment. Taking this money demonstrates complete contempt for ordinary people.
