The CBSE stated that chances of question paper leak was higher for regional language papers. In case there was a leak in vernacular language papers, it would be easy for them to conduct examinations again as only 8- 10% candidates would be affected while a majority of students who appeared for English medium test would remain unaffected. The CBSE on Tuesday denied in the Madras High Court that vernacular question papers for NEET 2017 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses were easier than the papers in English. The CBSE counter said the question papers had been set —at easy average and tough levels—and they had been moderated by the experts and the issue of one question being tougher than the other did not arise. Also, CBSE had given only two sets of question papers- one in English and Hindi and the other in all vernacular languages. I have cross-checked the papers myself and have found no difference in them at all. Question papers of Tamil, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, Kannada and Telugu are one and the same. My personal opinion goes that there is no difficulty level difference between the English set and the other languages. However, I will support normalisation if proved otherwise. What has shocked me deeply since this revealation is that all the hue and cry created by the opportunity seeker's stating that Bengali and Gujarati papers were difficult and that the Tamil paper was easy was all baseless. How can that be said when all the papers are one and the same?
