Petition updateNo Outer Harbour: Build Roe 8, 9 & 10. It's Great For Our State!Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt Sells Out His Constituents!

The Commonwealth has committed $1.2 billion to the project, with $700 million coming from the WA Government.
So why would a Mayor of a City that is voted by the residents to help improve amenity and services for the town be campaigning prior to a state election to stop Federal & State funding that would only benefit his constituents? This especially when no money would be required from its ratepayers to fix an already dire traffic situation. Instead he is happy to sell off $50 million plus of ratepayer assets to build a non income generating civic building in Kings Square. He is also happy to sit alongside local Fremantle Labor Party WA State Member Simone McGurk and Federal Member for Fremantle Josh Wilson in tearing up the $150 million from cancelled contracts that would have provided traffic relief at this intersection in the form of overpasses designed by experts from main roads. Fremantle would have also had fully funded overpass relief at Leach Hwy and South Street along Stock Road.
Something smells very fishy and it's not at Fishing Boat Harbor! What has been promised to the Fremantle Mayor from Labor or the Greens to block something that is listed as one of the top priorities for infrastructure Australia? Party politics yet again overriding what is obviously in the best interest for local residents.
October Local Government elections are coming up and it is imperative that independent locals not aligned to political parties are the only candidates considered for Mayor and ward councillors...........Remember these elections are not compulsory so to avoid political parties assisting their candidates ensure you take the time to vote for individuals that are confirmed as local and truely independant.
Perhaps it's time for the WA electoral Affairs Minister Bill Johnston to not only look at WA State electoral reform, but open the debate on Local Government reform as well making Local elections compulsory & for candidates to declare political party affiliations......
