Many people said a group of concerned residents like No Orange Heights (NOH) couldn’t succeed against the (mighty) Irvine Company and stop them from building 1180 houses on the 400-acres between Irvine Park and Peters Canyon Regional Park. It’s definitely a David vs Goliath story.
Well, NOH has succeeded in getting The Irvine Company to stop grading the hills until late May when a hearing for a preliminary injunction will determine if a new environmental review will be required for endangered species, wildfire hazard, traffic congestion and tribal cultural resources.
Clearly, the Orange Heights proposed development is not a done deal. We have made significant progress thanks to our amazing environmental attorneys, Winter King and her team at Shute, Mihaly and Weinberger.

THE CATASTROPHIC PALISADES AND EATON FIRES ARE CLEAR SIGNS OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN HERE IN THE ORANGE HILLS.
In 2017, the Canyon Fire 2 burned 9,217 acres, from Anaheim Hills to Tustin, including Irvine Regional Park, the Orange Heights proposed development site and Peters Canyon Regional Park, destroying twenty five structures and damaging fifty five others. Since 2017, extreme weather events including heightened Santa Ana Winds persist and get worse every year.
1180 houses in a very high fire hazard severity zone is INSANE, IRRESPONSIBLE and would increase the risk of ignition and put thousands of residents in harm’s way of the next catastrophic wildfire. IT MUST BE STOPPED!

Help cover the cost of upcoming litigation. We successfully raised $35,000, but we still need $15,000 for our fantastic attorneys to do their job in May. We will need more after that, but right now, we must fill our slingshot with stones strong enough to jolt The Irvine Company into dropping the project due to too much bad publicity, too much fire liability, and too much devastation to wildlife that Orange County residents DO NOT WANT.
And encourage TIC to donate the land for a park or allow it to be purchased for conservation through state and private funds.
