NO NEW TAXES. STOP MUNICIPAL EXPANSION IN KENNETT TOWNSHIP

The Issue

At the recent November 5th Board of Supervisors meeting, our township board voted to advertise a budget that includes a .10 mil, or 2.8% tax increase, to fund a proposed municipal building expansion.  But this is only the beginning. The board projects a need for a 6-8/10th mil real estate tax increase in total, translating to a roughly 20% tax increase over the next few years. They are voting on the first increase this week on 12/3.

A controversial part of this development plan is the proposal to build an 11,000 sq/ft building, estimated to cost $10 million, to house our 10-officer police force. It's situated next to the existing administrative building on township owned land. Given our current police setup—a hybrid system where township police cover day and evening and state police take the over night—coupled with our low crime rate, this expensive expansion appears rather unjustified and excessive for a small township like ours.

Residents of Kennett Township, PA, must collectively express our opposition to these planned tax increases. Other alternatives to address our township's needs should be thoroughly explored before resorting to aggressive tax raises, especially when not all aspects of the expansion have been fully approved.

Join me in voicing our concerns to the Kennett Township Board of Supervisors. We want;

  1. No New Taxes for unapproved projects.
  2. Halt municipal expansion planning until the community is fully informed and consulted.
  3. Get Community Buy In; solicit further feedback, using other modes of outreach such as online surveys or mailers

Please sign this petition to support a fair and reasonable approach to community development without placing an undue burden on our residents. Petition for Kennett Township, PA residents only.
