Thank you for standing with us against the proposed solar development in New Ash Green. Here’s an update on our campaign progress, upcoming events, and how you can help!

Campaign Highlights:

• Meeting with Our MP, Tom Tugendhat: We recently met with Tom Tugendhat, who has pledged his support for our cause. He has offered to write to Sevenoaks District Council on our behalf and may even raise this issue in Parliament. We’re arranging a site visit for him to witness firsthand the potential impact of this development on our green belt.
• Joining the UK Solar Alliance: We’ve partnered with the UK Solar Alliance, a network of campaigns like ours across the UK, all working to protect their communities from unsuitable solar developments. Their resources and insights have been invaluable in strengthening our approach.
• Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE): CPRE representatives visited the proposed site and offered their full support. They’ll be advising us on strategy and even speaking at future public meetings to lend their voice to our campaign.
• Publicity and Social Media: We’ve launched a Facebook page—NO-NAGS Facebook—to keep everyone informed. Please like, follow, and share to help spread the word! Our leaflet campaign is in full swing, with mail deliveries planned for New Ash Green and surrounding areas. We’re also working with local shops and businesses to display posters and hold leaflets. If you can help put up posters or distribute leaflets in areas not covered, please get in touch!

Public Meeting with Evolution Power On 13th November 2024, Evolution Power will be holding a public meeting regarding the solar proposal. Our initial inclination was not to engage with them; however, we have since been advised that a lack of engagement might be interpreted as disinterest, giving Evolution Power the impression that the community isn’t concerned. Asking questions at this meeting is unlikely to reveal any information they haven’t already encountered, as they will have well-prepared responses.

Funding and Donations: Thanks to your support, but still far from what we need to effectively oppose this development and any appeals that may follow. Expert advisors and legal counsel come at a high cost, but they’re essential to protect our countryside from this large-scale incursion.

Looking Ahead: How You Can Help In addition to financial support, here are other ways you can get involved:

• Door-to-door outreach: We’ll be organising door-to-door leafleting in areas not covered by our mailing list.
• Posters and flyers: We’d love for supporters to display posters in shop windows and around the community. If you’re able to help with this, please let us know!
• Contacting neighbours and friends: Share our campaign with your networks to maximise awareness and support.
