No More Straws On Our Beaches

No More Straws On Our Beaches
The Issue
Plastic pollution has become a global problem, especially in the form of marine litter consequently endangering our oceans, our marine animals and our personal health. Without change, our children will be left to pick up the waste of today plus an additional 8 million tons of plastic dumped into the ocean per year. Coastal hotels, restaurants and bars are major contributors to the single-use plastic waste that ends up on our beaches and in our waterways. Sustainable, viable alternatives exist and are easily attainable.
We are calling for a ban on plastic straws and a discussion regarding solutions to commercial, single-use plastics and Styrofoam in beach communities, specifically plastic cups, plates, utensils, to-go containers and bags. Reusable is the ideal, however, where single-use is necessary, alternatives proposed will include any items made from sustainable, renewable components that biodegrade in a natural, marine environment.
We believe when people know better, they do better so add your name and your voice to say there is a better way!
Not a Treasure Island resident? This should happen everywhere! Add your name if you agree there should be No More Plastics On All Beaches!
