No Loadshedding in Bellairs Drive, Northriding due to Recurring Faults Post Loadshedding

The Issue

Almost every time Block 10, Bellairs Drive, Northriding, has loadshedding, there is a power outage due to the substation that trips straight after loadshedding and we are left without electricity for anything between 12 to 48 hours.

These extended outages leave us with battery operated lights dying, cellphones having no signal and batteries eventually going flat, laptops, routers and powerbanks going flat, fridges no longer cold, freezers defrosting, food rotting and no hot water in geysers.

It also makes it almost impossible to cook, do laundry, work from home, etc.

On days when outages occur, we pay our domestic workers for a full day when they cannot vacuum clean, do laundry, ironing or cooking.

It is stressful enough having to deal with the challenges of loadshedding on a daily basis, but these constant outages post loadshedding really breaks one's spirit!

Time and time again we endure our 2.5 / 4.5 hours of loadshedding just for the electricity not to come back on again.

The problem has been ongoing over a long period of time and has not been sorted out.

As at 09 May 2023, outages post loadshedding have occurred on the following dates in May alone:-

  • 01 / 02 / 03 May
  • 08 May
  • 09 May

Our lives can't be put on hold as a result of this recurring problem.

We appeal that our loadshedding be suspended if our electricity cannot be successfully restored after loadshedding.
