Hello middle school students of GISD we all know the expectations about our school dress code. Every single day we have to wear uniforms (khaki pants/shorts or Navy pants/shorts, Red, white, and blue polo shirts) Why should we wear uniforms you ask? How should I know the Gisd website oddly doesn't say. If you search it up it says because of "hygiene" but what does a standardized dress code have to do with "hygiene"?What we are asking for is for us to wear Jeans, Sweatpants, and shorts. We would also like to wear t-shirts of any size and any color and would also like to wear sweatshirts of any size and color. Another thing we would like is hoodies. Jackson technology center and Austin Acadamy are allowed to have hoodies so why not Brandenburg and any other middle school that's not allowed to? I understand some dress codes should still apply so this is only what we are asking for. There will be no ripped jeans or anything inappropriate on the pant or shirt. We are old enough to understand what is inappropriate to wear at school and what's not. Dress code has always been a problem for students. If we don't wear a polo shirt it's "out of dress code" or if we don't have a belt or we don't tuck in our shirt.I know some people that can't afford a 10-dollar polo shirt from Walmart or 7-dollar khaki pants. Also, the prices of the PTA sweatshirts are 25 dollars and we have to wear a 25-dollar polo. The dress code is something that applies to our daily life and is important.(we have permission from multiple teachers and we are a part of a magnet school so that is why we are having uniform) PLS SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU AGREE TO FREE DRESS
