We're well aware of the constraints imposed by both anti-union laws and the decisions made by Teamster leadership. Our stance is clear: we advocate for the eradication of all No Strike Clauses within union contracts. Layoffs essentially function as a form of 'locking out' a significant portion of the workforce, underscoring the necessity for unions to retain the right to strike in response. Currently, we're actively strategizing our next steps in light of the detrimental 2023-2028 UPS Contract and these historic layoffs. UPS continues to make billions in profits, and their goal is clear: reduce the human workforce by up to 80% over the next decade. Robots don't take breaks, don't sleep, don't require wages, healthcare, workers compensation, pensions or vacations. Workers' control of AI/automation must be central to any union's mission.
