Petition updateNo James Braddock Park DiversionLAST CALL:
S CNorth Bergen, NJ, United States

NJ DEP has sent North Bergen its final review of North Bergen Preschool's application to remain in Braddock Park, a Hudson County Park.  North Bergen has until March 31 to respond and afterward, DEP will either approve or deny North Bergen's application.  See details here.

Please email the following DEP officials asap to ask them to deny North Bergen's application to keep the preschool in Braddock Park and return the park space to it's intended use as recreational space:
Maude.Snyder@dep.nj.gov
Robert.Guzek@dep.nj.gov

North Bergen previously told NJ DOE, NJ DEP and North Bergen voters it would move ALL the preschoolers, out of Braddock Park after the district's new junior high school (in the renovated Hi-Tech HS building) opens this fall, but now North Bergen only intends to move some preschoolers.  Voters approved the expenditure of $65 million in a special 2018 referendum to enable this school realignment plan - we have been "ripped off".

North Bergen is jeopardizing the safety of students and teachers by continuing to use these so-called "temporary classroom units", trailers, which should not be in service beyond 5 years.  For example, the trailers did not have emergency exits before 2018 (until after a member of the community complained), even though this requirement is one of the few that is specifically enumerated on the official NJ DOE inspection checklist.

Move North Bergen Pre-school children into the permanent, safer and better equipped elementary schools outside of a public county park.
