Hi

Please make a submission (if you haven't). This weekend about scrapping The Regulatory Standards Bill. The submission period expires on Mon.
The Greenpeace website has a good copy and paste tool.

Or feel free to alter my submission) below.

Why this is important:
The Glyphosate and Gene Tech bills would essentially not allow NZ to have organic produce - supported by the The Regulatory Standards Bill. (Even though organics are growing now - currently valued at NZ$1.18 billion. Seen in the recently released 2025 Organic Market Report).

The Regulatory Standards Bill - would paralyse  those trying to do good organic and natural things by compensating chemicals companies or those 'disadvantaged.'
Chemical companies would win and monopolize.
Think about this for a moment and the sickness it would cause.

I/we oppose the Regulatory Standards Bill and urge you to reject it in its entirety because:

The Regulatory Standards Bill would create a new expectation that companies receive compensation from the government (if deemed to be 'disadvantaged') when they implement laws to protect environmental and human health.

The Regulatory Standards Bill puts corporate property rights above the rights of New Zealanders and nature.

The Regulatory Standards Bill fundamentally breaches Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Regulatory Standards Bill is an attack on nature.

Re: "Most new bills, Government amendments and secondary legislation would be assessed for any inconsistency with the principles. Agencies must also complete reviews of existing legislation and undertake the same assessments. The results of these assessments would be published in a statement called a Consistency Accountability Statement (CAS)." This is entirely unacceptable. The Regulatory Standards Bill allows the government to undermine the democratic process.

Yours sincerely,

Recommendations

The entire Regulatory Standards Bill is unreasonable. It needs to be abolished because The Regulatory Standards Bill allows the government to undermine the democratic process.
