Dear Neighbors and Supporters,

We want to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Anna Jones’ candidacy for County Commission. Because of your help, we gathered 1005 valid signatures to get on the ballot without having to pay the nearly $5,000 filing fee. This was no small task!  Collecting signatures takes time, effort, and real commitment.  We had a deadline of May 10th, and we achieved that goal on May 1st.  That must be a record.

A special thank you to the incredible people who knocked on doors, stood at tables, or came down to sign in person. Your hard work and dedication made this possible. We couldn’t have done it without you.  Your support is crucial and very much appreciated.

Airport Update:

On the Saturday of the tornado watch, we had not one, but three flight schools flying overhead doing touch and gos. Many of you rightfully complained about it. At the end of the last meeting, a commissioner made a public statement that the watch covered a “big area” (trying to minimize a tornado watch), and the Airport Director added, “consider the source” and “9 out of 10 times (the source) is wrong just about everything”.  The source of the noise and safety violations are flight schools.  They continue to operate as if the rules don’t apply to them and the Airport and Flagler County do nothing saying, “We are not the airport police”.  This is a county airport, and they must be more responsive to the safety of the residents.  Then, just last Saturday, they were doing touch and gos through thunder and lightning. The flying during tornado watches, flying in lightning, and low altitude flights have all been reported to the FAA as violations of FAR 91.13 (careless and reckless operation).

Please keep filing complaints when you see unsafe flying. The more reports on record, the better. Important: Include your street name or neighborhood in the complaint. Without location details they claim the emails are fake. (Yes, they really suggest we’re making this up).  Please also report the constant noise.

We are nearly at 1,000 signatures — a goal we’ve had for a very long time. Even on the days when it feels like we’re not making an impact, know that we are. Every signature, every complaint, and every conversation is moving us forward.
