Hello! I'm Scarlett Shapley and I'm a freshman at Sunrise Mountain High School. I have just started my journey as an athlete through high school and I'm building my path and opportunities to get into a good college.

For the first few weeks of when I got onto the swim team, I learned that parents have to pay a fee just to get into a swim meets. I thought that it was a lie, but no, it was real. My family has never had to pay to get into swim meets because I've done rec and club, which usually parents are allowed entrance for free. It isn't fair that the family of the athletes have to pay to watch their child play a sport when they already put there hard earned money into paying for the sport that there athlete chooses to pursue. I understand that in some sports, for example football, lots of people go to those games and usually people do have to pay to go to those games. But other smaller events like swimming, shouldn't have a price on it. I understand for State or District meets, it would be easier if they paid because a whole bunch of people swim in those events. But for the rest? It isn't fair.
