The Issue

America's biggest tech companies are racing to build giant data centers, and federal tax breaks are helping them pay less while they do it. I'm asking Congress to change the law so the largest tech companies can no longer use these write-offs for data center construction.

Last year's federal budget law, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, included a set of business tax breaks. One of them, called 100% bonus depreciation, lets companies deduct the full cost of many investments right away instead of spreading it out over years. These breaks weren't written only for data centers. Any business can use them. But the companies spending the most on data centers can use them too.

According to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), a left-leaning think tank, four companies (Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet and Amazon) avoided an estimated $68 billion in federal taxes in 2025 through bonus depreciation and three other breaks in the law.

These are some of the most valuable companies in the world. They can afford to build their own servers. Money they don't pay in taxes has to be made up somewhere, whether by other taxpayers or by adding to the national debt.

This isn't a left or right issue. Whether you care most about fairness, fiscal responsibility or both, giving the richest corporations a huge tax break for their building boom doesn't add up.

Congress has the power to fix this. Lawmakers should make sure the biggest tech companies pay their fair share on data centers, just like everyone else.

Sign the petition to tell Congress: no more tax breaks for Big Tech data centers. The richest companies on Earth can pay their own way.
