What started as an email from a neighbor asking me to attend a hearing about a proposed truck stop, ended up becoming my mission for the past 4 months. Unable to attend that meeting, I started with an online petition. From that petition, I had a great group of women reach out to me wanting to help fight the cause. Mary Lou, Doni and Marilyn, thank you for all your hard work and support! Throughout this experience, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and corresponding with all the wonderful people living in all the neighborhoods in the Southeast corner of Beavercreek. On Monday night, we were able to declare victory.

Kudos to the Beavercreek Council. They listened, they questioned and then a motion to continue to a second hearing unanimously failed! Thank you all for doing right by your citizens:  Mayor Don Adams, Vice Mayor Pete Bales, and Council Members Charles Curren, Glen Duerr, Joanna Garcia, David Litteral, and Tiffany Schwartz.

Race Trac may sue. I am hoping that they will realize that this parcel isn’t worth the time or money considering all our concerns the corner and our public outcry with the idea of a truck stop.

To prevent another gas station or convenient store from considering building at this location, we are still working on getting as many signatures as possible in the 34th precinct, which Sky Crossing, all of Tara Falls and the north side of Stauffer Drive and Coy Drive. We will be going door to door soon.

In a few weeks, I will be creating another petition to show Ohio Department of Transportation, US Department of Transportation, Greene County, and the city of Beavercreek how people are wanting an overpass put in at US35 and Factory. Hopefully if enough people sign, these government agencies will earmark some money for the project sooner than later.

Stopping the proposed RaceTrac truck stop development was a group project and we couldn’t have done it without you all. Thank you for signing and sharing this petition, and supporting this cause in many other ways. Together we got our voices heard. Although development will happen in Beavercreek, it is important to have responsible development, meaning that it will serve to benefit our community. We need continue to preserve the natural beauty and wonderful residential neighborhoods that capture the essences of Beavercreek.
