No Data Center in Page, AZ

The Issue

Update 12/20: A referendum was filed by citizens to veto the city council’s vote to sell 500 acres for a data center. The referendum was filed to bring the issue to a citizen vote. The referendum gained 409 signatures (and needed 303 to pass). However, the city clerk disqualified every signature because the referendum # was written on the front, not the front and back and the land ordinance sale was not stapled to the signature paperwork. The issue will not be brought to ballot. 

On 10/22/25, Page’s mayor and council voted 5-2 in support of selling 500 acres of recreational zoned land to a developer to install a data center near Horseshoe Bend (see map below).

Residents of Page, AZ spoke out about the negative affects of a data center: water consumption, increased utility bills, water contamination, air pollution, noise pollution, light pollution, e-waste, excessive use of power, and an unsightly blight that will detract from the scenic beauty.
