Petition updateNo Data Center and MARICI BESS project in the City of Industry without EIR

$10,000 Goal Achieved! Plus, Habit Burger Fundraiser!

Puente Hills Community Preservation AssociationRowland Heights, CA, United States
Oct 5, 2026

Thanks to the selflessness of 139 individuals and two local organizations, PHCPA was able to emerge from its $10,000+ deficit and remain in the fight to protect residents from the hazards of AI data centers and BESS. Knowing that the community stands with us keeps us going strong -- we're battling to protect the community, after all.

While we cleared September's hurdle, the next legal fees invoice is just around the corner (we're expecting around $10,000 again due to City of Industry's purposefully aggressive and abnormal tactics), so take a breath and then gear up for another round.

Thank you, No Data Centers San Gabriel Valley!

With immense gratitude, we welcome a $1,000 grant from No Data Centers San Gabriel Valley that will directly support our mission to protect the health, safety, and quality of life of residents in the Puente Hills region.

No Data Centers San Gabriel Valley is a coalition of residents, community organizations, and advocates who formed in response to the rapid expansion of large industrial data center proposals throughout the region, often advanced without meaningful public input or regional planning.

The coalition brings together neighbors from multiple cities who believe that decisions about massive infrastructure projects should prioritize community well-being, environmental protection, and long-term sustainability.

PHCPA is proud to be a No Data Centers San Gabriel Valley coalition partner.

This Thursday (4pm - 9pm): Habit Burger & Grill Fundraiser!

On Thursday, October 8th from 4pm to 9pm only, come eat at Habit Burger & Grill (Rowland Heights) and show the attached flyer or mention code GIVEBACK to donate 20% of your order value to PHCPA!

If you can't make it to the restaurant, please consider donating directly at https://givebutter.com/c/phcpa or Zelle/Venmo to: outreach@phcpa.org.

------------------------

Of course, your money is most powerful when donated directly to PHCPA. And please don't be shy about donating more than once! Every month, PHCPA works tirelessly with the legal team and has faced numerous intimidating depositions and discoveries, all of which are considered abnormal for a CEQA litigation. And every month, we run out of donated funds because of the high costs associated with these greasy tactics from City of Industry. I wonder why they're trying so hard to prevent the case from being seen by a judge...

Will you help us raise $10,000 by the beginning of November? You can donate, host your own fundraiser, or seek donations from your local businesses.

Rally Against Data Centers and BESS

Sunday, 10/18, from 10 am to 1 pm

Schabarum Regional Park, 17250 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights

------------------------

PHCPA is currently engaged in public interest litigation under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), challenging the adequacy of the environmental review adopted for the 9.2-acre, 400-megawatt Marici Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located across the street from Hacienda Heights residents.

We are also working to oppose the proposed AI data center at the Puente Hills Mall.

Your donation directly supports PHCPA's ability to stay in the fight for the community.

*PHCPA is a California nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
