Petition Update: PHCPA's CEQA Lawsuit – First Court Hearing This Friday, August 7, 2026

PHCPA is currently engaged in public interest litigation under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), challenging the adequacy of the environmental review adopted for the 9.2-acre, 400-megawatt Marici Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located across the street from Hacienda Heights residents.
This Friday marks the first court hearing in PHCPA's CEQA lawsuit challenging the City of Industry's approval of the MARICI Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project without preparing a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR). This lawsuit seeks to ensure compliance with California environmental laws, transparency in the decision-making process, and meaningful public participation.
