The Issue

Dear Neighbour,

We are reaching out to you as home owners and residents of Kingsville, Ontario.  As involved neighbours, we are not opposed to responsible development that will have a positive impact on our growing community but we have serious concerns about the number and size of proposed developments for the core of our town and in our existing neighbourhoods.

We feel that these proposed developments that far exceed the current height restriction of 10m will be a detriment to the enjoyment of the privacy of our yards and will overshadow our properties.  They will dramatically alter the streetscape and will forever change the neighbourhoods we live in.

We are asking for your support to tell our council to respect and hold firm on our current by-laws that restrict developments to no more than 10m (3 storeys) and to ensure that proper setbacks in front, rear and side yards are respected.

Additional concerns are summarized here:

• the proposed density will impact traffic in neighbourhoods which are currently quiet

• removal of mature trees as witnessed at 183 Main Street East will have a negative impact not just on the look of our town but on our climate

• the cost of additional/upgraded public utilities and sewer infrastructure which will be a cost borne by taxpayers; this happened in our most recent tax increase

•a proliferation of buildings, the esthetics of which do not contribute to the charm of our community as witnessed at 140 Main Street East, which forever change our town

By signing this petition, you are asking Kingsville Town Council to not exceed the existing height of 10m for proposed buildings and to respect current setbacks.  In effect, to protect our town at all costs.
