It is understandable that the ‘balaclava mask’ is a phenomenon adopted by young people, making them feeling included in their group of friends, or to disguise themselves when they engage in offensive behaviour.

More often, this mask makes it difficult  for the victims to recognise the offenders, or could spread fear among children and vulnerable group of people.

We need to prioritise our own safety, as the level of crime increased across the UK.

I have created this petition with the aim of reaching the authorities and to ask them to create a policy that makes it unlawful for everyone to wear the ‘balaclava masks’ in any premises that are accessible to the public, including schools, shopping centres, train stations, shops, parks, etc.

It will be excluded the situation when the specific mask needs to be used because of work requirements.

With small steps, we can change the society to become healthy and positive.

In conclusion, it is a message for the young people. If you are included in a group of friends only if you do something offensive, it is not the right group for you. Ask around you for activities/groups specific for your age, and choose the right path.
